Community Services Department - Planning and Heritage Section
In response to a number of concerns relating to inspections associated with
Subdivision and Site Plan applications, the City of Mississauga's Community Services Department
- Planning and Heritage Section (formerly the Planning and Development Section) is amending its
processes regarding staff inspection of on-site works.
In order to arrange for a Community Services representative to inspect the items relating to
the release of building permits or site plan approvals, we are requiring that you use the
Request for Inspection Form .
When requesting an inspection, please complete the form providing photos of the items to be
inspected. Return the form to the Community Services' Landscape Architect to schedule an
inspection. Photos are to be e-mailed or delivered to the Planning and Heritage Section office,
located at the Community Services - Planning and Administration Reception, Second Floor, Civic
Centre, 300 City Centre Drive, Mississauga, L5B 3C1. No faxed photos will be accepted.
The first inspection is completed free of charge. Should the first inspection find
unsatisfactory or substandard work, applicants will be notified of the deficiency and required
to deposit by cash or certified cheque prior to re-inspection a $150 non-refundable fee for
re-inspection. Each subsequent re-inspection required will be subject to the $150
Community Services conducts random integrity checks throughout the year and will bring to
the attention of the builder and/or developer any further deficiencies. Problems as identified
(damaged or buried hoarding, fallen notification signs, dumping or unauthorized stockpiling on
municipal blocks et cetera) must be addressed immediately as to not delay the processing of
permits or other approvals.
The re-inspection fee will also be levied on Preliminary and Final Acceptance inspections
for Park and Greenbelt works when inspections relating to deficiency lists are scheduled by the
developer's representatives, and works are found to be incomplete.
This fee is in keeping with the City of Mississauga Fees and Charges By-Law 0005-2004.
Should you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding this process, please contact your
Planning and Heritage Section Landscape Architect for more information.
