Mississauga is a very popular destination for filmmakers and the Mississauga Film & Television Office is committed to further development of this industry.
All permits to film on City of Mississauga streets, property and parks are issued by the Mississauga Film and Television Office.
Filming brings substantial revenue to the community and it is part of our broader Culture strategy. Production companies pay residents and businesses for the rental of their properties, they use our hotels and restaurants and, many of the professionals in the filmmaking community live right here in Mississauga.
Mississauga boasts hundreds of unique filming locations and attracts dozens of film and television productions each year.
The Mississauga Film and Television Office works in collaboration with local film scouts to facilitate locations for producers, filmmakers and location managers considering Mississauga as a filming location.
Clients must submit completed Location Filming Permit Applications, all valid insurance certificates, notification letters and signature sheets (when applicable) to the Film Office via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by fax at 905-615-3828 for all location filming agreements and road occupancy permits (ROPs).
*NEW* (Feb 2013) All companies filming in the City of Mississauga must present to the Film Office, prior to permit issuance, an official certificate of insurance with $2 million per occurrence minimum coverage (or higher limits as the City reasonably requires depending on the nature of filming). The Film Office will not process an application without evidence of insurance. The insurance certificate must name the intended permit holder and must be completed, signed and stamped by the insurer or an authorized agent(insurance broker). Please refer to certificate of insurance instructions for more details. This is the only certificate of insurance form that will be accepted by the Mississauga Film & Television Office. Valid insurance certificates that have already been submitted prior to this change do not need to be replaced until after their expiry date.
Please be advised that the fee for ROPs is $310 plus HST ($40.30) and may be paid by cash, debit, credit or certified cheque. ROPs are to be picked up at Transportation and Works, 3185 Mavis Road, 1st Floor - Front Counter between 8:30am - 4:00pm.
