Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF)
On July 5, 2012, the Government of Canada announced the launch of the new Community
Infrastructure Improvement Fund (CIIF) as part of its Economic Action Plan. FedDev Ontario will
deliver the fund in Ontario. The maximum funding limit available for projects is $1
million. Both Don McLean Westacres Pool and the Streetsville Main Street Square projects
received $990,000 each. Projects must be substantially complete by March 31, 2014
The goal of the CIIF is to stimulate the economy as well as enhance local facilities,
improve energy efficiency and accessibility, and contribute to the health and quality of life
in communities across Ontario. Priority has been given to projects that demonstrate
economic benefits and the use of new technologies and innovation. Mississauga's projects,
Don McLean Westacres Outdoor Pool and the Streetsville Main Street Square, meet CIIF's criteria
and, with support of the Federal Economic Agency for Southern Ontario, provide the opportunity
for Mississauga to build on two important community assets for today and future.
