Bylaw Changes Banning Sale and Ownership of Dangerous Exotic Pets

Jun 11, 2014

Today, bylaw changes to ban the sale and ownership of dangerous exotic pets in Mississauga were approved by City Council.

City staff consulted with experts from Toronto Zoo, the exotic pet industry and a Canadian association of reptile and amphibian keepers to identify dangerous exotics. These animals are now included on the Animal Care and Control Bylaw's Schedule A with other prohibited animals.

Bylaw changes are in effect as of June 2014.
