Cheap Family Activities to do this Summer in Mississauga

Now that the warm weather is finally here, it’s time to start planning for summer fun. Even if you’re on a budget, you can still enjoy summer with these cheap family activities.

1) Celebrate Canada 150

On July 1, celebrate Canada's 150th anniversary at Mississauga Celebration Square. Be captivated by the story of Mississauga and the rich history of our great country told through live performances, and a concert with internationally-renowned JUNO Award winner K'naan. Enjoy more than 25 food trucks, Canadiana inspired kids programming and an unforgettable fireworks finale. 2) Enjoy Mississauga's Culture

Come out to Mississauga Celebration Square for a variety of free events and festivals this summer. With weekly movie nights, concerts, food truck rallies and cultural festivals, there's tons of events for the family to enjoy. If you're looking to learn more about the local history and culture, visit Mississauga's museums this summer. The Bradley Museum, Benares Historic House and Leslie Log House are offering free admission until August 22 in celebration of Canada's 150th anniversary and Bradley Museum's 50th anniversary. 3) Visit the Parks

Pack a cooler, grab a soccer ball and get your family together to enjoy the parks in Mississauga. Head out to Erindale Park, Meadowvale Conservation Area or Jack Darling Memorial Park for a family picnic. You can also get your body moving with a hike at one of the City's trails. Try taking a stroll under the shade of some trees at The Riverwood Conservancy or Lake Aquitaine. Visit:

4) Hit up the Spray Pads and Pools

Need a place to cool down on a hot sunny day? Beat the heat this summer at one of the City’s free spray pads. Spray pads are open every day throughout the summer and have engaging water features to keep the kids smiling. Celebration Square's fountain is also open on the Upper Square from May 22 to September 2 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. For up to date information on the fountain, please call: 905-615-7465.  You can also visit one of the City's indoor pools that are open all year round or seven outdoor pools that are set to open on June 24. 5) Check out the Library 

Enjoy these warm sunny days with some outdoor reading. Pick out an exciting book to read on the patio, listen to an audiobook on a summer road trip or grab a magazine to read by the pool. From eNewspapers and video games to summer programs for children, the Library offers many services where everyone can find something to enjoy.
