Tech and the City - Next Hackathon Focuses on Building a Connected and Engaged Community

Sep 19, 2017

Interested in data, technology and building a more connected community? The City of Mississauga is co-hosting its second hack day event, 'Tech and the City' on Saturday, October 21. This year's theme of 'Building a Connected and Engaged City' highlights Mississauga's leading role in Canada as a smart city.

This initiative is in partnership with ICUBE UTM, Sheridan College, RIC Centre, SOTI Inc. and presenting sponsor ESRI Canada. The one-day innovation hackathon will have teams of tech-minded individuals unite to create solutions to build a connected and engaged community.

Teams will be given challenges to build their solutions and the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. Participants can also attend workshops led by industry professionals and instructors.

The winning teams will receive a grand prize package that includes enrolment in a sponsored accelerator program and one Google Home unit per person. Total prize value is over $5,000.
