The development of Danville Park implements a number of recommendations made in the 2014 Parks & Forestry Future Directions Master Plan and meets the City’s goals of providing parkland and recreational facilities to its residents. Located northwest of the Highway 401 and Highway 410 interchange on Danville Road in Ward 5, the 27-hectare (67-acre) park provides a number of recreational activities that complement the area’s unique topography. As a contribution to the development of the park, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) donated $300,000 to create an iconic aviation-themed space within the park that incorporates a sleek overhead airplane, a painted runway, informational plaques and pinnacle posts denoting runway lighting. The space also includes aeronautical design elements chosen by the public.
