UPDATE: Hurontario-Dundas Street Incident

Feb 12, 2018

As of 3:30 a.m., this morning (February 12), Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services extinguished the fire that was the result of an explosion that occurred yesterday morning at 3066 Hurontario Street, just north of Dundas Street. With the fire extinguished and the gas to the building turned off, the focus is now on the investigation into the cause. The investigation is being led by the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal, with support from Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services and Peel Regional Police. The investigation is expected to take a few days to complete and the cause is unknown at this time.
Public safety is a priority and access will be provided to the site as it is safe to do so. As a result of ongoing efforts at the scene, Hurontario Street from Dundas Street to Hillcrest Avenue remains closed to vehicle traffic in both directions. Pedestrians can access businesses at 3024 Hurontario Street, 3025 Hurontario Street and 5 Dundas Street West. There is no pedestrian access on Hurontario, both sides, from Agnes Street to Hillcrest Avenue.
The reception centre, led by the Region of Peel Human Services with support from the Red Cross and the City’s Emergency Management Office, is now closed. The Region of Peel Human Services registered 50 individuals last evening that were affected by the incident. Accommodations have been arranged for them as the incident site remains active. First responders are working to ensure a safe return home for them as quickly as possible.
Peel Regional Police are asking anyone with information or dash cam video regarding this incident to contact investigators at 12 Division at 905-453-2121, ext.1233. Information may also be left anonymously by calling Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by visiting or by sending a text message to CRIMES (274637) with the word ‘PEEL’ and then your tip.
