This tax supports promotion of tourism in Mississauga. The presentation will also include information on the City’s Tourism Master Plan and current tourism plans.

Who:
Tourism-related businesses such as hotels, short-term rentals (such as Airbnb and HomeAway), restaurants, attractions, Business Improvement Areas, Mississauga Board of Trade and residents

Mississauga, ON, L5B 3Y3

Background:
On February 7, 2018, City Council approved the implementation of a MAT. This law went into effect on April 1 of 2018. Government of Ontario legislation requires 50 per cent of the MAT funds collected by a municipality be directed to an eligible non-profit organization. The City is proposing to form an MSC for this purpose.
