Mississauga Celebrates National Forest Week

The City of Mississauga is recognizing National Forest Week (September 22 to 28) with several events including a tree-planting event in Malton to kick off the week on Saturday, September 21. The City will be supporting our urban forest and providing educational opportunities. Activities taking place during National Forest Week include tree plantings, guided walking tours, workshops, interactive display booths and stewardship activities.

• bee hotel painting
• a guided hike focused on butterflies and other pollinators

This year, the City was the recipient of the TD Green Space Grant for $25,000 from TD Bank Group (TD) and the Arbor Day Foundation. From this grant, the City will be supporting urban forestry and providing educational opportunities in the Malton community. BACKGROUND: 
National Forest Week runs from September 22 to 28 across Canada. It is a dedicated week where Canadian’s can learn more about trees and raise awareness about the value forests play within our economy, culture, traditions, history and future.
