Now that the leaves are changing, it's time to say goodbye to another unforgettable summer in Mississauga. This summer brought an astounding number of cultural events to the City that made an impact on a local and global scale. Over 110,000 Raptors fans made Jurassic Park West their stomping ground to cheer on the home team and the summer would not have been complete without welcoming U.S. Open Tennis Champion, Bianca Andresscu in style to her hometown She The North rally.
Mississauga Celebration Square brought residents and visitors 49 days of events through 22 large outdoor festivals and cultural events. This summer also brought 41 buskers to 13 locations across the City, a 220 per cent increase in total attendance at the Summer Concert Series in Port Credit and Streetsville and 68 per cent increase in Culture Summer Camp registration.
Culture was on the rise in Mississauga this summer. Mississauga set a record for the number of filming days in 2019 and welcomed its fourth film studio, CBS Stages Canada. The City set an all-time high as the second busiest film location city in Ontario with almost 1300 days of filming to date.
After such a great summer of culture, the City can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store.
