Mississauga's latest Accessibility Plan outlines how the City will continue to improve services for people with disabilities to 2017. The plan focuses on the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) made under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. This Regulation follows the City’s implementation of the employment, information and communication, transportation, and built environment standards that have already made Mississauga a more accessible city.
MiWay's Accessibility Plan shows how the City’s transit system is continuing to provide a viable way to get around for people with disabilities. Successes in 2013 include accessible improvements to MiWay’s website and web content, new accessible training for all employees, as well as the continued installation of concrete bus pads and sidewalks along all routes. MiWay is already delivering on 2014 goals, including the start of audible announcements of all bus route information on 100 per cent of routes.
