On June 24, the City of Mississauga will launch Let’s Play in the Park – a new, pilot outdoor summer program that offers residents access to safe, affordable and quality recreation programs in their neighbourhoods.
“Let’s Play in the Park” is a free, supervised, nine-week program offered from July 2 to August 29 at 12 local parks in Mississauga. Children aged six to 12 are invited to participate in quality recreation programs which include activities such as crafts, drama and games.
The PepsiCo Canada Foundation, a major supporter of the Jerry Love Children’s Fund, as well as other sponsors, donations and funders have generously sponsored the program to ensure it can be offered without a user fee so that cost isn’t a barrier to participation. The program is operated by qualified leaders trained in the “High Five” principles of healthy child development.
The photo opportunity will also include partners, contributors and sponsors. Students from Father Daniel Zanon Catholic School will be there to help demonstrate the program’s activities.
