For the second year, the City invites everyone in Mississauga to put themselves on the jury
panel of the "People's Choice" Award and go online to cast a vote in this year's
Mississauga Urban Design Award competition.
The goal of the Mississauga Urban Design "People's Choice" award is to determine,
in the public's opinion, which new building or landscape feature helps to define the City and
raise the profile of Mississauga.
The City's webpage lists the following questions to provide a decision-making guideline.
- Does the project contribute positively to the City's image?
- Does the project contribute to the quality of the environment or to the community?
- Does it give you a "sense of place," increase your sense of safety, or does it
reinforce a unique history?
- Does it influence any trends in the City or beyond?
- Does the project blend in well with its surroundings, including other buildings or
"People's Choice" award online voting begins Wednesday, October 10, 2007.
Mississauga residents and everyone interested in taking part in the selection process are
invited to go online and make their selection.

Read the criteria provided, view the nominations entered in this year's Mississauga Urban
Design Award competition, and cast a vote for one project by clicking the button beside the
image of the project.
The "People's Choice" Award winner is based on the total number of online votes and
will be announced at the Mississauga Urban Design Award event on Tuesday, November 20, 2007. At
the event, the jury will recognize projects that achieve the City's high standards of
excellence in urban design and will acknowledge representatives of the building and development
industry for their contributions to making Mississauga a vibrant and liveable city. The
Mississauga Urban Design Awards is the longest running program of its kind in Ontario.
The first "People's Choice" award in 2006 was presented to Riverwood, 1475 & 1477
Burnhamthorpe Road West (City of Mississauga, du Toit Architects Limited).
