Nominations for the 2010 Cultural Heritage Property Awards of Excellence Now Being Accepted

The City of Mississauga's Heritage Advisory Committee and Heritage Mississauga are now accepting nominations for the 2010 Cultural Heritage Property Awards of Excellence.

"The program is designed to encourage enhancement of a cultural heritage property," said Paula Wubbenhorst, heritage coordinator.  "The awards recognize excellence in preservation and restoration and will be announced and presented next February at the Heritage Mississauga Awards evening."

Cultural Heritage Property Awards of Excellence

  • Nominations must be for properties located in the City of Mississauga that are listed on the Heritage Register or adjacent to a listed property.
  • Projects must have been completed in the last two years and been inspected by staff to ensure compliance with approved plans.
  • There are four nomination categories: Restoration; Adaptive Re-use; Infill and Infill in a Cultural Landscape.
  • Nominations are invited from the public and property owners as well as from the Heritage Advisory Committee and Heritage Mississauga Board.
  • There is no limit to the number of entries that can be submitted however a separate application must be made for each entry.

How to Apply

Nomination forms and guidelines are available at www.mississauga.ca/heritageplanning. The deadline for submissions is Friday, October 30, 2009 at 4 p.m. Submissions must include photographs of all relevant exterior views along with an outline of the project describing the work undertaken. All nominations will be reviewed by an award panel comprised of two members each from the Mississauga Heritage Advisory Committee and the Heritage Mississauga Board.
