Canadian Post-Punk Indie Band Tokyo Police Club Rocks Mississauga’s City Centre With A Free Concert

My Mississauga continues its free summer event weekends with Canadian rock indie band Tokyo Police Club, salsa rhythms and beats with Hispanic Cultural Festivals and a Night of Song with opera powerhouse, Rosanna Riverso.

"Being a band based out of Toronto we've always wanted to make our way over to Mississauga to play a show and now we finally have an opportunity to do so,” said Tokyo Police Club.  "We are all extremely excited about it."

Recently nominated for a Canadian JUNO award for their 2008 album, Elephant Shell, the newly-formed band will perform a rapid-fire barrage of material that will rock the night away.

Members of Orchestras Mississauga perform Party Pieces opening with a live opera performance by local singer/songwriter Rosanna Riverso and her fusion of classical music with elements of pop, world, and rock music.

“My Mississauga has been a big hit with the community,” said Melissa Di Carlo, manager of My Mississauga. “Hundreds of people have been coming out every weekend to enjoy our free events and we still have so much more for them to see and hear.”

Kick start your weekend on Thursday, at the City Centre, starting with music café at noon featuring Southern Sounds Steel Drum Band, followed by yoga on the lawn at 6 p.m. and movies under the stars at 9 p.m.
