City of Mississauga to host a number of Pan Am Sporting Events in 2015

The City of Mississauga will host a number of sporting events during the 2015 Pan American Games as the Pan American Sports Organization announced the City of Toronto as the successful bidder for these games.

"We are honoured the Hershey Centre and Iceland will be a part of the 2015 Pan Am games," said Community Services Commissioner Paul Mitcham. "We are ready to welcome athletes from North and South America to our facilities. Mississauga is known for its love of sports and this is a great privilege for us to host events of this high calibre."

The following facilities in Mississauga will host events at the 2015 Pan American Games:

• Hershey Centre: combative sports – Judo, Tae Kwon Do
5500 Rose Cherry Place
(Matheson Boulevard & Kennedy Road)

• Iceland: artistic roller skating and speed roller skating events
705 Matheson Boulevard
(Matheson Boulevard & Kennedy Road)

• Classic Bowl: bowling
3055 Dundas Street West
(Dundas Street & Winston Churchill Boulevard)

The City of Mississauga has hosted international events such as the World Women's Hockey Championships and the Grey Power World Curling Tour Championships at the Hershey Centre.
