City Council Reappoints Janice Baker as City of Mississauga City Manager and CAO

This week, Janice Baker's appointment as City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the City of Mississauga was renewed by Council for a further five year term to January 2016.

"I am pleased we have such a strong leader in this role," said Mayor Hazel McCallion. "Janice has served the City with distinction and her dedication and support advising Council is greatly appreciated."

"It is very rewarding to work in the role of City Manager for the City of Mississauga," said Baker. "In the past years the City has made exciting progress. Looking forward we will continue to build on this success through our values of trust, quality and excellence."

Janice Baker became City Manager and CAO of the City of Mississauga in January 2005 after serving as the acting City Manager since February, 2004.

City Manager's Role:

The City Manager oversees the City of Mississauga's Leadership Team and is responsible for the overall administration of the City, liaising with Members of Council and external organizations as well as acting as department head. Through the City Manager's department, the City Manager is responsible for developing corporate policy, advising on strategic and community initiatives, internal audit, economic development and legal services.
