Interactive Wellness Fair To Inspire Older Adults To Get The Most Out Of Life

Mar 25, 2011

The City of Mississauga, the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport and the Older Adult Centres of Ontario have partnered to present "55+ Inspired Living Fair" - an interactive event to inspire people aged 55 plus in our community to be healthy and active, and get the most out of life.

Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Mississauga Seniors’ Centre, 1389 Cawthra Road (beside the Cawthra Community Centre)

The fair is an opportunity to learn more about local and provincial resources, and get tips and ideas on how to live well in the physical, mental, vocational, emotional, social and intellectual aspects of life. There will be displays, presentations and demonstrations on:

* diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis
* nutrition and cooking
* brain fitness
* health, fitness and wellness
* games and challenges
* giveaways, prizes and draws
* City programs and services such as fitness/active living, therapeutic pools, aquafit, swimming skating, and more.

It is estimated that over 60 per cent of Ontarians do not meet the recommended guideline for physical activity. Studies show that people who are physically active live longer and lead healthier lives. They have significantly less risk of developing heart disease and other chronic health problems leading to a better quality of life.
