Mississauga’s Draft Sport Plan Dashes Forward

The City of Mississauga’s draft Sport Plan will move forward for public consultation in late March following receipt at General Committee this week. The draft Sport Plan was developed through consultation with community sports groups and leaders and will assist in developing, promoting and delivering physical activities for residents of all ages, abilities, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

“We’ve drafted a plan that highlights opportunities to increase the profile of sport in the City by maximizing our strengths. It was developed through consultation with key stakeholders such as the Mississauga Sports Council and other affiliated sports groups,” said Howie Dayton, director, Recreation.

Currently, the Sport Plan is available for review at Residents are encouraged to visit the site to share their favourite sport memory.

“Stories of inspiration, memories of personal achievement and lifelong friendships are often the result of participating in sport,” Dayton added. “Personal experiences serve as inspiration as we build a plan that supports our City's sport community and creates a feeling of belonging."

Details regarding the public consultation will be made available in the next few weeks.
