The City of Mississaugas draft Sport Plan will move forward for public consultation in
late March following receipt at General Committee this week.
The draft Sport Plan was developed through consultation with community sports groups and
leaders and will assist in developing, promoting and delivering physical activities for
residents of all ages, abilities, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
Weve drafted a plan that highlights opportunities to increase the profile of sport
in the City by maximizing our strengths. It was developed through consultation with key
stakeholders such as the Mississauga Sports Council and other affiliated sports groups,
said Howie Dayton, director, Recreation.
Currently, the Sport Plan is available for review at mississauga.ca/sportplan. Residents
are encouraged to visit the site to share their favourite sport memory.
Stories of inspiration, memories of personal achievement and lifelong friendships are
often the result of participating in sport, Dayton added. Personal experiences
serve as inspiration as we build a plan that supports our City's sport community and creates a
feeling of belonging."
Details regarding the public consultation will be made available in the next few weeks.
