Residents are invited to an Open House featuring free activities, displays and "try
it" events to mark the reopening of the indoor pool at Frank McKechnie Community Centre
Sunday, March 10, 2013
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Frank McKechnie Community Centre and Library
310 Bristol Road East, Mississauga, Ontario
City of Mississauga's Recreation staff welcome the community back to the community centre's
indoor pool following an eight month closure for lifecycle replacements and upgrades to serve
the facilitys customers better. Repairs and benefits include:
-The installation of air handling and heating systems within the pool area to make on-deck and
in-water experience more comfortable. These improvements better manage the high humidity and
temperatures that often occur in a pool environment;
- Repairs to insulation, vapour barriers and the installation of new thermal windows which
offer long term cost and energy efficiencies; and
-Improvements to the change rooms such as increasing the size of the family change room shower
area and the installation of new change room floors, doors, vanities and ceilings.
Through its Strategic Plan and the Community Services "Future Directions" plan for
recreation, the City of Mississauga is committed to building and maintaining facilities and
infrastructure to meet the changing needs of our residents so that they may be healthy, active
and engaged in our community.
