The City of Mississauga's official reopening ceremonies for Lakeview, Port Credit and Lorne
Park Libraries, originally scheduled for May 7, 2011, will now take place on June 11, 2011. The
postponement is due to the timing of the federal election. The government of Canada funds
one-third of the City's Infrastructure Stimulus Fund (ISF) projects.
The official ceremonies are now scheduled on Saturday, June 11 as follows:
Lakeview Library, 1110 Atwater Avenue
Official ceremony at 11 a.m., with refreshments and entertainment until 1 p.m.
Port Credit Library, 20 Lakeshore Road East
Official ceremony at 1 p.m., with refreshments and entertainment until 3 p.m.
Lorne Park Library, 1474 Truscott Drive
Official ceremony at 3 p.m. with refreshments and entertainment until 5 p.m.
All of these renovated libraries reopened to the public in February and March 2011. Local
residents have been enjoying canopied entrances, quiet and group study rooms, a variety of
seating options, new library materials, upgraded accessibility, views through large
floor-to-ceiling windows, new lounge areas with a fireplace at Lakeview and Lorne Park, and an
outdoor patio at Port Credit.
Burnhamthorpe Library, the City's fourth library undergoing renovations, will reopen to the
public this spring. The official ceremony, originally planned for September, is
rescheduled for Saturday, August 6, 2011.
