The City of Mississauga kicks off its annual Earth Days campaign featuring litter clean
ups,tree plantings and Mississauga's 20-Minute Make Over.
"The wonderful part about living green in our city is that you don't need to look far to
get involved," said Ward 11 Councillor and Environmental Advisory Committee Chair, George
Carlson. "There are a number of community events and activities for the entire family to
enjoy. Whether it's cleaning up your neighbourhood, adopting a local park, tree planting or
riding your bike to school or work, you can make a difference every day. By promoting a green
culture today, we are building a sustainable environment for the future."
2013 Earth Days Photo Opportunity:
The Ecosource Waste Watchers Audit is an event where students uncover how much garbage is
produced by their school in one day and what they can do to cut back on the amount collected.

Ecosource is an innovative environmental organization bringing green living to our community.
They specialize in fun, hand-on programs that focus on how each of us can change our daily
habits to become better environmental citizens. The Ecosource WasteWatchers program guides
students through two school-wide audits to identify their biggest waste issues. Students are
engaged in campaigns to raise awareness and create action based changes. Last years
results: an average 25% reduction in waste. Ecosources Waste Watcher program is
