Be a REBEL in Mississauga

Apr 24, 2013

From May 1 to 7, the City of Mississauga and partners invite you to unleash your inner rebel during a youth-led festival of creative expression and community involvement. REBEL 13 celebrates National Youth Arts Week and National Youth Week with more than 40 free events and activities taking place throughout the city.

"By using REBEL as a brand for National Youth Arts Week and National Youth Week in Mississauga, the meaning of the word changes completely," said Trevor Sookraj, co-chair of REBEL 13. "REBEL now represents a week where youth come together and create positive events, a positive atmosphere and more importantly, celebrate their positive contributions to the community."

According to Sookraj, REBEL 13 will feature a number of youth-driven projects including REBEL Challenge Race, Mississauga Youth Film Festival, REBEL Talent Show and Music Monday. The week kicks off on May 1 with Ignite Youth Mississauga featuring a lineup of inspirational speakers and performers at the University of Toronto in Mississauga. REBEL 13 wraps up with a poetry competition and live music at Jam & Slam on May 7 at the Mississauga Civic Centre Skateboard Park.
