Go Beyond the Hour. Win a Ride with the Mayor.

May 21, 2013

The City of Mississauga is extending its participation in Earth Hour through the I Will If You Will (IWIYW) campaign by going beyond the hour and continuing to take action to protect the environment.

“I pledge to take the winner of Mississauga’s I Will If You Will challenge for a ride in my electric vehicle,” said Mayor Hazel McCallion. “I believe one of the best ways to encourage others to do their part for the environment is to set an example myself. Big and small, every action counts.”

As part of Mississauga’s IWIYW challenge, 500 residents are encouraged to register for the second phase of the Let Your Green Show (LYGS) campaign. At letyourgreenshow.ca you can pick a water-saving action, track your neighbourhood's environmental progress and get money saving rewards. Once 500 people accept the challenge (no later than by August 31, 2013), a winner will be chosen to ride with the Mayor in her electric vehicle.

“From installing a high efficiency showerhead to simply checking a home for leaks, the actions are small steps residents can take to reduce their water use and help the environment,” said Brenda Osborne, director, Environment. “It’s about taking every day actions to live greener lives.”
