The City of Mississauga, Smart Commute Mississauga, Metrolinx and the Mississauga Cycling
Advisory Committee invite residents to give their cars a break and cycle to work for the annual
Bike to Work Day on Monday, May 27, 2013. Group rides from various parts of the city will be
followed by a free breakfast with dignitaries.
Bike to Work Day is an excellent example of putting our Living Green Master Plan into
action, said Ward 3 Councillor Chris Fonseca and Mississauga Cycling Advisory Committee
member. This is a community building event that makes a positive change to the way we get
around our city. I encourage everyone to join us and register for a Bike to Work Day ride.

Annual Group Ride
The main group ride meets at 7 a.m. at Chappell House Lawn at Riverwood Park, located at 4300
Riverwood Park Lane.
Group Ride with Ward 3 Councillor Chris Fonseca
The group ride meets at 7 a.m. at the intersection of Tomken Road and Burnhamthorpe
Group Ride with Ward 1 Councillor Jim Tovey
The group ride meets at 7 a.m. at Port Credit Secondary School, located at 70 Mineola Road
In addition, hundreds of students are expected to participate in Bike to School Day rides in
conjunction with this event. The students will join in the breakfast event at Mississauga
The group rides depart at 7:30 a.m. and arrive atMississauga Celebration Square, 300 City
Centre Drive at approximately 8 a.m.
Breakfast will be served from 8 to 10 a.m.
The group rides and breakfast will take place rain or shine.

At 8:35 a.m. speakers will gather around the BMX stage at Mississauga Celebration Square.
Bike to Work Day is recognized by Smart Commute organizations across the Greater Toronto and
Hamilton Area, in partnership with Metrolinx and area municipalities. Civic and corporate
leaders are demonstrating their commitment to sustainable transportation by participating in

In 2013, Bike to Work Day is part of Bike Month. Bike Month is a community celebration of
cycling that is happening across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Bike Month 2013 begins
on Monday, May 27 and continues until the end of June with hundreds of events in the
