MiWay Brand Implementation receives CUTA Corporate Recognition Award

Jul 06, 2011

Today at Council, City of Mississauga's MiWay Marketing team was recognized with a Corporate Exceptional Performance/Outstanding Achievement Award for the MiWay Brand Implementation. The award was originally presented by the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) at its annual conference in Regina, Saskatchewan on May 31, 2011.

"The MiWay initiative has received numerous awards. I am proud of our MiWay marketing team and want to thank each of them for their hard work and dedication delivering the brand we see in our city every day," said Geoff Marinoff, director of Transit.

The City of Mississauga's MiWay brand implementation took place from August to October 2010. The MiWay brand was implemented through the following marketing initiatives:

• A communication and education campaign using print, electronic and broadcast media to educate existing and potential transit users about the difference between MiExpress and MiLocal service.
• On-street signage at MiExpress bus stops to help customers more easily identify and access the new service.
• Various community outreach initiatives, including a student ambassador program.
• An updated website – and the mobile site

The City of Mississauga launched the MiWay Mobile Site in October 2010. The Mobile Site enables customers with a smart phone or any other mobile device to view the next three departure times, or the full schedule for any day of the week, for any bus stop in Mississauga.
