Public Invited To Comment On New Pricing Framework For Community Services And Programs

Oct 31, 2011

Mississauga Council wants to hear resident and stakeholder input on a draft Pricing Study report which recommends new fees for recreation programs and services. The report will be presented at a public engagement session scheduled in November.

November 8, 2011 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Noel Ryan Auditorium
301 Burnhamthorpe Road West

On October 26, Council directed staff to seek public input on the draft Pricing Study which reviewed the City’s fee setting process for recreation programs and services including aquatics, arenas, community programs, fitness, active living programs, golf, meeting rooms and sports fields

The review researched pricing policies in other municipalities and was guided by key assumptions and principles such as the need to balance taxes and fees, affordability, setting fees based on the full cost of program or service delivery, and regular review of fees to ensure that fees meet financial targets and the City’s strategic objectives for providing healthy, active living opportunities for all its residents.

The public engagement sessions will provide residents and stakeholders an opportunity to review proposed, draft recommendations for a new, simplified pricing structure for recreation programs and services. If approved in December, the report’s recommended changes to fees will be considered as part of the City’s 2012 and 2013 business planning and budget process and implemented over the course of 2012 and 2013.
