Got Plans for Groundhog Day? Burrow into Celebration Square’s First Groundhog Day Marathon!

This year, Mississauga residents do not need to travel to Wiarton or Punxsutawney to celebrate Groundhog Day.  Head to Mississauga Celebration Square on Thursday, February 2, for MississaugaÂ’s first Groundhog Day Marathon.

Between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., watch the 1993 cult classic ‘Groundhog DayÂ’ on the SquareÂ’s outdoor digital screens.  Pay homage to the beloved weather-predicting groundhog and the comic genius of Bill Murray while skating on the Mississauga Celebration Square outdoor ice rink. 

‘Groundhog Day’ will be screened continually throughout the day, with show times beginning every two hours.

What: Groundhog Day Marathon

Date:  Thursday, February 2, 2012

Show Times: 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Where: Mississauga Celebration Square

Cost: Free

The Mississauga Celebration Square ice rink is the largest free, outdoor rink in the city.  With a built-in sound system and the latest green technology, the 147Â’x155Â’ rink is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through March, weather permitting.  Skate rentals are available on the Square for $5 to $10 for two hours. 

Located outside of Mississauga Civic Centre in the downtown, Mississauga Celebration Square is a vibrant, state-of-the-art multi-media event destination. The newly renovated Square is host to a dynamic line-up of year-round, free outdoor events and festivals that showcase arts, cultural diversity and entertainment.
