Mayor Hazel McCallion Participates in ‘Mayors’ Think Tank’ Forum in France

Mar 05, 2012

On March 7, Mayor Hazel McCallion and other mayors from around the world will be participating in the 'Mayors' Think Tank' at Marché International des Professionnels d'Immobilier (MIPIM) in France to discuss challenges facing cities in the 21st century.

The theme of the forum will focus on improving infrastructure: transport, utilities, social, financing, as well as managing old infrastructure. The forum will enable mayors and city leaders to share their experiences, ideas and best practices related to sustainable urban strategy.

"This forum is a great venue for Mississauga as it offers a global platform to present our City's location advantages and help build international awareness of the size and strength of our business economy," said Mayor Hazel McCallion. "As we promote Mississauga internationally, we bring foreign direct investment (FDI) opportunities into the city that will further strengthen and diversify our industry sectors and economy."

As part of the forum, Mayor McCallion and Larry Petovello, director, Economic Development, will take part in the Ontario delegation to showcase Mississauga and promote business investment opportunities.

"Mississauga is well positioned to foster international business growth and expansion," said Larry Petovello, director, Economic Development. "The Economic Development Office will continue to seek opportunities to access foreign markets and further Mississauga's position as Canada's global business destination."
