City of Mississauga Celebrates Outstanding Citizens

The City of Mississauga's Civic Award of Recognition Evening will honour over 100 Mississauga residents for their outstanding contribution to the community.


Tuesday, April 10, 2012
Ceremony: 7 to 8 p.m.
Reception: 8 to 9 p.m.


Mississauga Civic Centre, 300 City Centre Drive
(Burnhamthorpe Road and Duke of York Boulevard)

The ceremony will be held in the Council Chamber. The reception will follow in the Great Hall.


The City of Mississauga has been honouring residents through the Civic Recognition program since 1992. Other awards in the program include the Certificate of Recognition, the Civic Award of Merit and new Civic Award of Philanthropy.

Mayor and Council will be presenting the new Civic Award of Philanthropy
to Harold G. Shipp for his commitment and dedication to the City of Mississauga.

The Civic Award of Philanthropy is one of the highest awards presented by Mayor and Members of Council and is in recognition of an individual who has demonstrated outstanding philanthropic leadership through their extraordinary personal commitment of time, talent and resources, their exceptional generosity, motivation of others, and financial support.
