The City of Mississauga's Cultural Resource Mapping tool was recognized with a prestigious
Excellence in Municipal Systems Service to Citizens award by the Municipal Information
Systems Association (MISA) at its annual conference on May 29, 2012.
"The Culture Division and the Information Technology Division partnered to create a
successful cultural resource tool that provides reliable and accessible information to anyone
interested in culture," said Susan Burt, director Culture Division.
Launched in May 2012, the map contains information such as arts and culture businesses,
community cultural organizations, cultural spaces and facilities, public art, heritage
properties, festivals and events, local artists and other related cultural resources. Over 50
community groups, culture organizations and other community stakeholders participated in the
development of the project.
"I would like to thank everyone who worked on this project for their dedication and
commitment to making it a success," added Shawn Slack, director Information Technology.
"The cultural resource tool demonstrates improvements in service by providing up-to-date
information through one central, digital source."
