The City of Mississauga will begin treating select City-owned Ash trees against the
infestation of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) throughout the month of August beginning Tuesday, August
7th.
"Treating the first 600 trees is a positive step in managing the impact that EAB will have
on the City's Ash tree canopy," said Gavin Longmuir, manager, Forestry. "I encourage
residents to monitor their own properties and contact a certified arborist to check for EAB and
review available treatment options."
Based on surveying completed in 2011, Ash trees within a half-kilometre radius of infected
trees will be treated by licensed contractors if they meet the City of Mississauga's treatment
criteria as follows:
20 cm or greater in diameter
