Get Healthy and Active at Mississauga Valley Community Centre Healthy Active Living Fair

Residents of all ages are invited to a “Healthy Active Living Fair” where they can join in new activities and learn from community experts how to make healthy active living an important part of their lives.

When:

Saturday, September 8, 2012
10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Who:

Ward 4 Councillor Frank Dale will host “Speakers Corner” starting at 10:15 a.m.

Mississauga Valley Community Centre
1275 Mississauga Valley Blvd.
Mississauga, Ontario

What:

City of Mississauga staff, community agencies, businesses and organizations will provide information about the services they provide which contribute to healthy active living. Residents will be able to enjoy the community centre’s improvements and participate in activities in the new therapeutic pool.

Why:

Through its Strategic Plan and the Community Services “Future Directions” plan for recreation services, the City of Mississauga is committed to increasing awareness about the services, facilities and programs available to residents so that they may be healthy, active and engaged in the community.

On June 30, 2012, the Terry Fox pool was re-opened following construction of the new therapeutic pool and facility improvements. The new 1100 square foot, fully accessible, warm water therapeutic pool will provide residents with access to programs in a safe and comfortable environment. Activities in the therapeutic pool include learn-to-swim programs for all ages, therapeutic programs to meet the needs of older adults and individuals in post rehabilitation as well as anyone looking for a gentle and holistic exercise program.
