Business community invited to experience new online Mississauga business directory

Oct 16, 2012

The City of Mississauga announced a new online service today making it possible to locate and receive reliable contact information for over 10,000 companies located in Mississauga.

"The business directory is a popular service provided by our office and is used by both small and medium-sized businesses in Mississauga to generate lists, leads and connections within our community," said Susan Amring, director, Economic Development. "By moving the directory online for the first time this year, we are maintaining the same services people rely on and adding several new features to make it even more convenient and widely accessible."

The business directory now features:

  • The ability to share listings by email;
  • Facebook, Twitter and Google+ integration;
  • Directions to listed company locations via Google Maps; and
  • Mobile browser optimization.

It is accessible through the City's website by visiting:

In addition to free online access to listings, a one-year subscription is available for purchase.  The one-year subscription is being marketed to businesses that have purchased a directory in the past or businesses that require full-access to company listings.  "For $60, a one-year subscription is good value to companies in our community that need to create customized lists or import data to contact management software," added Amring. With a subscription, an updated data file will be available for download each month.  Companies listed in the business directory are invited to update their information online at any time.

The Mississauga business directory is one of two new interactive tools that the City of Mississauga has recently added to the Economic Development Office website.  Visitors can now create customized brochures online. This feature is expected to appeal to commercial real estate and other professionals responsible for making location decisions. The brochures enable business decision makers to create personalized business cases featuring key information including location attributes, market conditions, local information on population demographics, housing statistics and more.

As Canada's sixth largest city, Mississauga is home to 741,000 residents and more than 54,000 businesses, including more than 60 Fortune 500 companies with Canadian head offices or major divisional head offices. A diverse, progressive and award-winning municipality located on the shores of Lake Ontario in the heart of the Greater Toronto Area, Mississauga is "Leading Today for Tomorrow" by focussing on delivering services, implementing its Strategic Plan, delivering value for money and maintaining infrastructure.
