Mississauga counts down to Toronto 2015 Pan Am & Parapan Am Games

The City of Mississauga will be one of 10 municipalities across the Greater Toronto Region (GTA) to celebrate the two-year countdown to the Toronto 2015 Pan Am & Parapan Games with a ceremony and event to mark the occasion.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013
11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. - Children registered in day camp programs from the City of Mississauga and Mississauga YMCA participate in Pan Am/Parpan Sports, demonstrations and cultural activities
12 noon – Official ceremony and Pan Am mural unveiling

As part of their registered summer programs, children from City of Mississauga and Mississauga YMCA summer camps will be participating in a fun-filled morning of Pan Am and Parapan-themed sports and cultural activities. An official ceremony will highlight the games followed by the unveiling of a special mural created by sports artist David Arrigo through the Pan Am Mural Experience.

The Toronto 2015 Pan Am & Parapan Am Games are scheduled to take place 16 days in July and seven days in August for the Parapan Am Games. The games will welcome more than 10,000 athletes and officials from 41 countries as well as tourists, media and members of the games family. The City of Mississauga will be host to Pan Am sporting events including taekwondo, judo, wrestling and karate and Para Pan events including wheelchair rugby, powerlifting and goalball.
