City Asks Province for Disaster Relief Funding

Jul 26, 2013

Based on the unprecedented rain storm in Mississauga which resulted in a severe flooding event on July 8, 2013, the City of Mississauga is asking the Province of Ontario to declare areas of the city a "disaster area".

In a resolution signed today by Acting Mayor Nando Iannicca, the City is requesting disaster relief funding from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing through the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program (ODRAP).  Pending the Minister's declaration of a disaster, Council will appoint members to a disaster relief committee to administer funding. See attached resolution.

The resolution will be ratified by City Council at a future meeting as soon as possible.
