City of Mississauga Launches Three 2014 Grants Programs

The City of Mississauga is now accepting applications from community-based arts, culture and recreation organizations for financial support in 2014 through the City’s Arts & Culture Grant Program, the Cultural Festivals & Celebrations Grant Program and the Community Grants Program.

The Arts and Culture Grant Program assists new, emerging and established not-for-profit arts, culture and heritage organizations. It provides grants to help eligible organizations develop exemplary programs and services for arts, culture and heritage and to advance knowledge, understanding and the appreciation of arts, culture and heritage for the citizens of Mississauga.

The Culture Festivals & Celebrations Grant Program assists Mississauga-based organizations by providing funding to aid in costs associated with providing a clean and safe venue for the presentation of arts, heritage and cultural festivals and celebrations to Mississauga residents and visitors.

The Community Grant Program assists Mississauga-based, non-profit and volunteer groups deliver recreation, sport, youth programs and services to the Mississauga community. Grants help to cover general operations, program delivery or a specific event or activity costs that support new or pilot initiatives outside the normal range of programming provided by the City of Mississauga.

All applications undergo a review to ensure each meets the specific grant criteria and are granted upon Council approval.

When:
Wednesday August 28, 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday September 4, 9 to 11 a.m.

To receive an application for you must attend one of two mandatory information sessions. More information concerning the information sessions can be found on the Culture Divisions website at www.mississauga.ca/grants. Optional Community Grant Orientation Sessions

What:
Community Grants information sessions are available by appointment. If you are interested in booking an appointment to review the grant program, are looking for general information or would like advice on completing the application, please contact Teresa Burgess-Ogilvie, co-ordinator, grants funding at 905 615-3200 ext. 4313. Applications cannot be submitted by email or fax.

When:
Tuesday, September 3, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to noon.
