Need Help with Snow at the End of Your Driveway? Our Windrow Snow Clearing Program May Be For You

Oct 22, 2013

Older adults and people with disabilities can apply for the City’s Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing Program – a service offered during the winter season to assist in clearing snow that accumulates at the end of driveways during road plowing.

“As the 2013-2014 winter season approaches, it’s time for eligible residents to apply for the Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing program,” said Joe Pitushka, director of Engineering and Works. “The service is offered after every snow plowing operation.”

Residents who are 65 years and older and people with disabilities can apply for the program. An application will determine whether the service will be free or cost $200. Applications for the Driveway Windrow Snow Clearing Program are available online or at all community centres and the Mississauga Seniors’ Centre.

This program will be in effect from November 25, 2013 to March 7, 2014. If there are additional snow events the program may be extended to March 31, 2014. The windrow snow clearing service will plow a three metre (10 feet) wide area at the bottom of the driveway to allow one car to pass. The service may take up to 36 hours after a snow storm.

Visit the City’s windrow web page for details on the program and for an application. City of Mississauga community centres will be accepting applications until Monday, November 11 at 9 p.m.
