Cooksville Four Corners Official Opening Celebrates New Public Space at Five and 10

Sep 10, 2013

Residents and businesses are invited to celebrate the transformation of an urban space into an attractive public place in the heart of Cooksville at an official opening event.

When:

Saturday, September 14, 2013
11 a.m. to noon

Where:

10 Dundas Street
(Southeast corner of Dundas Street and Hurontario Street)

Who:

Mayor Hazel McCallion
Ward 7 Councillor Nando Iannicca
Community Services Commissioner Paul Mitcham
Frank Fusillo, Con-Ker Construction Corporation

What:

The ceremony celebrates the transformation of an urban place into an attractive public space in a historically significant location and popular destination for new immigrants to Mississauga. As the cross-roads and transit hub for Mississauga, the intersection at Dundas and Hurontario Streets is the second busiest transfer point in the city. Improvements to the landscape have made this space more accessible and enjoyable.

The event also recognizes the Con-Ker Construction donation of $500,000 in material and labour on behalf of the Fusillo family in honour of their father, Matteo Fusillo and his contribution to building Mississauga during the 50 year history of the company. Mr. Fusillo passed away in 1998.

As Canada's sixth largest city, Mississauga is home to 741,000 residents and 55,000 businesses, including 63 Fortune 500 companies with Canadian head offices or major divisional head offices. A diverse, progressive and award-winning municipality located on the shores of Lake Ontario in the heart of the Greater Toronto Area, Mississauga is "Leading Today for Tomorrow" by focussing on delivering services, implementing its Strategic Plan, delivering value for money and maintaining infrastructure.
