At yesterday's Council meeting, flood mitigation and process improvement actions were
approved based on the July 8, 2013 storm when the City of Mississauga experienced unprecedented
rainfall that overwhelmed the storm drainage system's capacity.

In addition, Council approved requesting the Federation of Canadian Municipalities urge the
federal government to incorporate climate change adaptation and mitigation principles within
the Building Canada
Fund; establish a establish a permanent natural disaster relief fund; and provide
funding for infrastructure to address residential and business flooding.
