Keep An Eye on the Kitchen: Prevent Dangerous Fires

Oct 01, 2013

Mississauga’s Fire Prevention & Life Safety team will be at various Mississauga Home Depot locations as well as Erin Mills Town Centre during Fire Prevention Week to educate the public on ways to prevent kitchen fires.

“Cooking is the number one cause of residential fires in Ontario and it only takes a moment for a dangerous kitchen fire to start,” said fire chief John McDougall. “We want all residents to know that keeping a close eye on the stove at all times is the best way to prevent these fires and keep our community safe.”

Talk to staff about fire safety in the kitchen and the best ways to prevent kitchen fires from starting. Also, see the Fire and Emergency Services pink fire truck in support of breast cancer awareness.
