Public Invited to Meeting on Development Charges Bylaw Update

May 01, 2014

Proposed changes to development charges for residential and non-residential development in Mississauga will be discussed at a public meeting on May 14.  Development charges are fees used by the City to pay for things like new transit terminals, libraries, public works facilities, road construction and the City’s recreational facilities that are needed when the population grows.

What:  Proposed Development Charge Bylaw Update
When:  9 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2014
Where: Civic Centre, Council Chamber, 300 City Centre Drive (Duke of York Blvd. and Burnhamthorpe Rd. W.)

The rates for development charges are developed after detailed studies on the City’s infrastructure needs for population growth.  The rates, once approved by City Council, will be outlined in the City’s new Development Charge By-law.  Provincial law requires development charge bylaws in all Ontario municipalities to be updated at least every five years.
