Temporary Parking Permits Now Online

Dec 12, 2014

In time for the holiday season, temporary parking permits for short-term parking can now be submitted online through the City of Mississauga's website.

“Most temporary parking permits are for guests, driveway repairs, and family celebrations or funerals,” said Mickey Frost, director of Enforcement. “By submitting permits online (or by phone) residents can avoid parking fines. It is important to note that there are limits for these permits and they may need to be cancelled based on weather, emergencies or other conditions.”

“Residents can now go online at their convenience to get a temporary parking permit,” said Shawn Slack, director, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. “Many City services such as tree pruning, recreation, library searches and pet licences are available online along with plans to implement additional mobile applications for City services in 2015.”

Residents can have up to 14 short-term temporary parking permits in a year per address, with a five day maximum for five cars where there are no prohibited parking signs.  If prohibited parking signs are present, please contact 311.  - Parking Enforcement and Traffic Operations will inspect the street to ensure that safety requirements are met.

Residents can request short-term temporary parking permits where no prohibitive parking signs are present:
• Online
• By telephone at 3-1-1 or 905-615-4311 (from outside city limits)

This service is offered free of charge and is approved the same day. Longer term permits can be made by calling 311.

Temporary Parking Permits may be cancelled at any time for weather conditions or emergency situations.

Temporary parking is not available to:
• Heavy vehicles 3,000 kg or more
• Vehicles without license plates
• Vehicles with expired license plate stickers
• Trailers that are not attached to motor vehicles
• Vehicles displaying “For Sale” signs
• Vehicles that are not mechanically functional
• School buses and commercial coaches
