City Employees Unite to Raise over $200,000 for the Community

Apr 01, 2015

Today at Council, the City of Mississauga presented the United Way of Peel Region with a cheque for $203,324.88; the total raised during the 2014 United Way Employee Campaign.

The 2014 Employee Campaign included fundraising events and an internal pledge blitz where City staff were encouraged to commit to a year-round donation.

“I have always said that Mississauga is a city that cares,” said Mayor Bonnie Crombie. “Our compassion is evident from the tremendous dedication shown by the team of professionals who work at the City of Mississauga. The United Way is an important local organization, committed to elevating the quality of life for residents in need, and I am proud that our employees continue to give their time, talent and treasure toward this invaluable mission to support others,” Mayor Crombie added.

“I am so proud of the support our employees have shown to the United Way of Peel Region,” said Janice Baker, Mississauga City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer. “The United Way improves lives in Mississauga. That’s why it is important for everyone to give what they can.”

The City of Mississauga has been involved in the United Way of Peel Region’s fundraising campaign for more than a decade and has raised more than $2.6 million to date.
