City of Mississauga's Director of Economic Development Elected to IEDC Board of Directors

The City of Mississauga’s Director of Economic Development, Susan Amring has been elected to the board of directors for the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for a two-year term. The IEDC is the world’s largest membership organization serving the economic development profession. Appointments were announced at IEDC’s 2015 Annual Conference, held October 4 to 7, in Anchorage, Alaska.

“Susan has a long and successful track record in championing economic growth and prosperity for the city,” said Janice Baker, City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer. “Her leadership and dedication, coupled with more than 25 years of experience in municipal government management will be a valued asset to the board of directors for the International Economic Development Council.”

Amring was appointed the Director of the City of Mississauga’s Economic Development Office (EDO) in 2012. Her division is responsible for business attraction, growth and start-up in Mississauga.

Susan Amring is the Director of Economic Development for the City of Mississauga. The City of Mississauga’s Economic Development Office (EDO) provides information and services to help businesses grow and prosper in Mississauga. Amring has more than 25 years of municipal government management experience, covering economic development, planning, communications and the Mayor’s Office. As her current responsibilities include business attraction, business retention, business start-up, marketing and research, Amring is always seeking opportunities to understand the evolving needs of business and match the offerings of the City of Mississauga with forward-looking businesses. Amring has a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from the University of Waterloo and has received her designation as a Certified Economic Developer from both IEDC and the Economic Development Association of Canada (EDAC).
