Residents are invited to attend a stormwater residential program workshop on April 13, 2016. The two-hour workshop is being held to collect input on potential options for programs that would recognize and encourage stormwater best management practices on residential properties.
The City of Mississauga currently has a stormwater credit program for non-residential and multi-residential properties who have implemented stormwater management works on their property that control the quantity and quality of stormwater run-off. On October 28, 2015, Council passed a resolution to form a working group to consider a credit program for residential properties. The working group is comprised of Ward 2 Councillor Karen Ras, Ward 3 Councillor Chris Fonseca, Ward 6 Councillor Ron Starr, Ward 8 Councillor Matt Mahoney and Ward 11 Councillor George Carlson as well as staff from the City’s Transportation and Works department. The group has been exploring a number of different options for residential properties that will be shared at the workshop. These options, together with input from residents, will be reported back to Council in the spring of 2016.
