Mississauga City Manager Appointed to AMO Board of Directors

Oct 18, 2016

Mississauga’s City Manager and Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Janice Baker, has been appointed to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Board of Directors, Large Urban Caucus.

“I am honoured to have been nominated by our Council to serve on the AMO Board of Directors,” said Baker. “AMO is an active and effective advocate for municipal government. I look forward to continuing the Board’s important work addressing goals and meeting common challenges on behalf of Ontario municipalities.”

Baker will serve on the AMO Board of Directors, Large Urban Caucus for a two-year term. Baker will help set policy for the Association and serve as a key municipal leader in the Province.

“AMO benefits from membership from across the Province, and a Board that reflects the diversity of Ontario’s municipal governments,” said AMO President, Lynn Dollin. “To that end, I am pleased to have Janice on the 2016 to 2018 Board team.”

Baker became City Manager and CAO for the City of Mississauga in January 2005 after serving as the Acting City Manager since February 2004.

AMO focuses on sustainability for municipal governments, advancing federal and provincial infrastructure, enhancing local economies and environmental sustainability.

AMO is a non-profit organization representing almost all of Ontario’s 444 municipal governments. AMO supports strong and effective municipal government in Ontario and promotes the value of municipal government as a vital and essential component of Ontario and Canada’s political system.
