The City of Mississauga is seeking input from the public and stakeholders, including tenants, property managers, owners and contractors on recommendations for the Adequate Heat By-Law. Last fall, Council directed staff to review the By-law to ensure that landlords can be flexible when responding to fluctuating weather patterns.
Two meetings to discuss views, possible changes and recommendations on the Adequate Heat By-law will take place this month. Some questions that the meetings will explore include:
• Should cooling provisions be added to the By-law at the expense of the owner?
• Should air conditioning be considered an essential service?
• Should the dates in the adequate heat By-law be flexible?

The Enforcement Division at the City of Mississauga will hold public meetings to review the Adequate Heat By-Law. Council directed staff to review the wording and provisions in the By-law to ensure that landlords can be flexible when regulating heat in their buildings during fluctuating and extreme weather patterns.
